I am looking at old photos stored in m computer while waiting for flight 5j 655 bound for tacloban. I am to board at 11:25 AM. My son took me to the airport and he was able to get me through the boarding phase of my journey.
I had broccoli in my handcarry luggage and I was happy that they allowed it with me instead of checking it in. You see when one goes to Baguio, one would be tempted to haul loads and loads of veggies, esp broccoli, cauliflower , carrots and sweet pepper as these are very expensive here in Ormoc. But hubby would always caution me to travel light, it was not worth the trouble of lugging around heavy weights when they would not be properly handled at the baggage compartment.
Well I am disappointed that I brought two cameras that contained no shots worth printing at all when I looked at them now. Except for a shot at the room of the hotel where I was billeted, and the outside view from my window, nothing was really worth publication. I had companions who were fond of shopping and I was tagging along most of the time. I could not get pictures of the best views of Baguio. We went to the cathedral to attend mass and but when I was going up the promontory where the church was built I regretted not bringing my camera. The old church has been repainted on the outside and it was quite spectacular, tho as a cathedral, it was not as imposing at many others more known. The inside was not made over but I was impressed with the flowers, and real flowers at that. Anthuriums of various colors, hydrangeas and baby’s breath and many others that I could not identify. The arrangers made an intricate arch of flowers at the entrance and the middle aisle of the church, which would make you think, it was prepared for a wedding ceremony. But I think it was decked that way because May is the month of flowers and as proof we saw a santacruzan on the way to SM one afternoon.

I wrote that entry last May 29 on the airport, but was not able to post it sooner. I would always feel more safe when I have company while travelling. My last official travel itinerary to my dismay necessitated that I have to stay overnight in Manila and I panicked at the thought that I would have to put up in some hotel room alone. From my sister in law who chatted with me online while I was in Baguio, I got the idea that I could stay with my son who is based in Manila. I really wondered why I did not think of it before. When I called him up, he had the same idea that I dreaded. He would check me into a hotel. I argued that I wanted to see my two month old granddaughter and if he could put me up in his condo. While on the bus from Baguio to Manila we exchanged sms until finally he asked to alight in the Cubao terminal for Victory Liner. There he picked me up and he said he could accommodate me in his place if I could put up with the " inconveniences." For me the most convenient place was where the people that I know and love are. And finally I met Ayesha Jade Riamon Avellana for the first time.
The little angel was asleep most of the time that night but I was able to hold her and take a video of her the following day before leaving with my son to the airport. My son and his wife and child will be home in Ormoc from the grand family reunion in July. I look forward to that day with much joyful anticipation.
