I came,,,i saw....

In the previous blog I talked about the many things and events I look forward to in March. But there was something unexpected as it was an event that I never thought would occur in my life as as a teacher. I can not give details here, but despite the bad weather ( our classes were called off due to a tsunami level 2 alert last March 14. i decided to buy a plane ticket to Iligan City somewhere in the third largest island of the Philippines, as a member of an accrediting team for universities. Many urgent things have to be set aside, my grades tho done, still needed formatting to be ready for printing. And some students still needed to see me for important last minute instructions. Graduation, one of the things I look forward to in March was just a week away.

To get to Iligan One has to take three changes of transportation. I took a fast craft from Ormoc to Cebu, a voyage that takes about two hours , then we had to rush to the airport in a taxi (with a driver that get a ticket for beating the red light). The plane ride took only about 45 minutes. Then we were fetched by the university vehicle at Cagayan after a couple of hours meeting and getting to know other members of the team who also made Cagayan a meeting point.

I wouldn't go into the nitty-gritty of accreditation, although as a neophyte evaluator, it was a baptism of fire and  I would say in self evaluation that I survived with flying colors. Tho' the job was taxing and demanded sleepless nights, the camaraderie and the welcome and reception was very warm and friendly and hospitable.
Picture above shows me and my fellow accreditors on board the school bus. My son, who met us in CDO took this picture with his new professional cam.
Will be  posting more pics of the city next time.
