neither grumpy nor sad

today. Everything passes. Nothing is ever constant. Not even moods or feelings. I simply have to get used to how things are, and adjust to changes. Especially as it is Good Friday and I should be good.
With that resolve, I woke up at five AM to the chirping of the birds. I brought my notes down with the intention of reading and preparing for a lecture which would still be next Saturday. Thanks to the Holy Week, I have ample time to prepare for my summer classes.
Then a bird alighted near me then in the wink if an eye flew to the dike across my porch. A couple more flew by from the coconut tree to the jackfruit tree on the other side of the house. Apart from the chirping of the birds, and for the musical bell of the nearby parish church which reminded me that the morning lauds was starting, there was no other noise . I decided not to go but prayed  by myself as I was intent to be more productive this day.
Then hubby laid down a frugal Good Friday breakfast for me. When we were walking in the Neo catechumenate way, we would have been fasting starting 3 PM today. Now we decided to observe and follow certain practices like abstinence (not only from meat but also in self indulging activities) except for hard core fasting.

He decided to clean the bathroom and toilet and cooked landang(palm flour jelly balls, http://www.marketmanila.com/archives/landang-palm-flour-jelly-balls) using a charcoal stove.
Since we didnt have a charcoal stove, he rushed to the market on his motorbike and actually bought one for the purpose. I know it is not only for self mortification that he bought a charcoal stove, charcoal is an alternative source of fuel, especially as the lpg price has again risen.
Landang is cooked with sliced ripe bananas, sago balls and camote cubes, sugar and  coconut milk. And yum yum yum I am enjoying the landang now. I know he has sent landang to the neighbors (which are my sisters and their families). He does that every Good Friday, the cooking of landang and its distribution to the  neighbors.
I shall be joining the activities leading to Easter, and in between do preparations relevant to my job.
With that thought I say, Christ is truly risen, allelluia! Happy Easter everyone!
