just another day

Here I am once more facing a blank blog page not knowing what to write. maybe I should start with my birthday roses. I love roses so much. But four days after my birthday they cry out for replacement. Here they are.

I almost forgot them after I received them but Dad took notice and rescued them. I was grateful for the gesture.

My daughter in law gave me these white roses at the party. I felt like a celebrity hugging them close to me although i forget to take a picture for posterity.

The yellow and red roses were handed to me by my sister Annie who said she tried to send to me at my home but the house was already closed as we were all at the party venue by 10 AM.

I appreciated those who attended and greeted me, sang for me and gave me gifts. The last ones weren't necessary but I am happy for those who recognize the little child in each of us , who delights at opening packages regardless of age. I realize I still have that child in me.

I received a pair of earrings and flowers from my daughter in law, from Eden a coin purse and a towel, from Bebbie and Gaga a customized mug, flowers from my sister.

Most of the gifts however, went to the real child, my grandson Nathan Verchiel who was baptized on that day.

Every body was game. The MC's were my young colleague Ronnie and Mutya Collander, my niece.
When the time for a free for all singing came, everybody who was called came to the front to render a song like a good sport.

Among the singers were my colleague Alice who just retired, my sister Edna, Rusty, Ronnie and Mutya

Even Mama Corsini and the sisters Lani and Pia sang.

Picture above shows my daughter Signe who read the dedication prayer at the start of the program.

But the best performer of them all was my beautiful sister in law Mavic, who was a pro in her rendition of  "Nosi Balasi" an other songs.

Picture below shows Maam Alice belting out "How did you know." She seldom responds to popular demands for her talent but I am glad she did when I asked her to.

Perhaps the best thing that I received on that day was the chance to be a mother again. The busy parents Ayn and Francis had to leave the baby with us so they can go back to work in the city. this weekend provided me opportunity to get adjusted to the baby's timings, sleeping and waking and feeding times so that it would not hamper my work schedules too. The baby is very gentle and demands nothing, except for milk and diaper change.

And here they are Mr and Mrs. Francis Henry and Signe Ayn Yap with Nathan  Verchiel.
